It's good to "hear" your voice. I talked with Joanne yesterday; let her know, and we had tears to say the least and, of course, there were also some recollections that made both of us laugh. He did it on purpose, and he was always right! Or, so he said. Be well, we can chatter any time you wish!

Give Joanne my best. Sure miss you two! Dick is probably already telling funny stories in the next life!

So sad to hear. Richard Shelton was one of the first Arizona writers I discovered when I first moved here. It is a loss for for us all, and we will miss his authentic voice. I share your grief.

This is sad news, Ken. I know you two were so close. Many of us will join you in feeling the loss. I already had fallen for Dick's poetry before I came to interview for the job in the Creative Writing. He was so welcoming--even though I was a fiction-writer. A devilish grin but a sweet heart.

Yes, you had him with that "devilish grin." I will miss that most, and those penetrating silver-blue eyes. I can still hear him say after reading one of my awful essays: "What a terrific waste of really good punctuation." God, I miss that...

Lyn Levy

He saw and then showed things never seen before, and understood; watched and listened to many who heard, knew those who wanted to know, and in the worst of times, and the worst of places, he brought creativity to so many who grew, who learned from him, and then grew their own creativity. He will never stop.

He will go on with us--so many adventures we had with him! So glad you knew him and got to experience his spirit. We'll have to visit Madera Canyon or drive the Ruby Loop again in his memory!
