Oh good, that’s him! I can tell by the way he parts his head feathers. I had asked one of our many Red-eyed Vireo neighbors if he ( I know hard to tell) would be so kind as to make a trip to the Lookout. Having just finished honeymooning in the sugar Maples, after a brief courtship filled with aerial displays and tail fanning , it took a lot of convincing. Not very keen on leaving Vermont, you know, with our abundance of water and juicy caterpillars. I promised he would be back in time for an excellent blackberry and elderberry season, at least I hope I’m correct. Told him to look for a guy in his Pjs with a camera hanging from his neck . Number 95, you’re welcome.
Ha! Lor, you are so kind--that's a long way to come for a visit! Thank you! I haven't seen him today, so he must be on his way home! Wouldn't want him to miss out on any blackberries!!!
Beautiful photos as always, Ken! I'm imagining you have a 'star' each month and the red-eyed vireo HAS to be the one for May, sneaking in at the last minute! Congratulations! Is there a correlation with having 'lucky PJs'
Oohhh each 'star' could make a beautiful 2025 calendar. xo
you can't make this s*** up! and in your pajamas yet, come on Ken, get a life, like a normal boring life, ho-humming around the garage (hmm, not sure you have one of those..) looking at the dusty floor. really, love that you are loving your life and sharing all of the beauties with us. Brings me joy! grateful
My life is for the birds...but you know Karen always has other plans for me...still recovering today from shoveling 5 tons of gravel yesterday at midday in the sun!
Well thank goodness you have someone around to keep you physically fit! I can see you sitting around in your pj's eating nuts and drinking coffee, jumping on your ebike to the Lookout, taking the elevator up, sitting down and writing and doing it all over. You'd be chunky and unfit. OK I made some of that up...
I do remember my first REVI in KS. Fort Leavenworth. A good time banding birds covered in thick lotion deet walking through tropical riparian. Birds were amazing, mosquitos were more abundant. Then TX. and now a vagrant in S. CA. That little bird came a long way to visit your welcoming fountain. Ken can you post a photo of your fountain? I want to put something similar in my native plant patch and see what happens...
Funny how we always remember our first. Mine was only last year in North Dakota along the Red River (they breed there, I hear) where I had dragged the son-in-law to watch birds before our construction project. I'll put a pic of the fountain up on Facebook for you...

Thank you Victoria! Yes, the vireo is my star for May. Lucky PJs--love it...maybe I should make a pair with my "star" birds for the yard...

Today my arms are sore and feel like lead...oh to be chunky and unfit...where are my walnuts...
hahahahaha!!

Happy 95 birds for May, and congratulations on spotting the red-eyed vireo! Great pics, BTW. :)
Thanks Susan--just another one of those amazing mornings in SEAZ! Which you know all about...
I know something about those amazing mornings, but you're the expert! :)
Love that red eye vireo
He is a beauty! I'm fortunate I was present when he put in a short appearance!
Congratulations, that’s a beautiful new bird!
Thanks Mary! Yes, still pinching myself!
