Lol, well, I think there is such a thing as serendipity, synchronicity and even luck - but I won't claim to know how they work. I do know I see a lot more birds when I show up. You must have our brown creepers because I haven't seen any all winter which is really strange!
Thanks Karen--yep, I'm always "luckier" when I work at it! Those Persian princes from the Isle of Serendip weren't so much lucky as they were keen observers! I'm watching for your treecreepers...
"Serendipity isn’t an accident but an act of will." Nice. I'm gonna remember that one. I never heard of a brown creeper. Up North the nuthatches are plentiful but of course they don't blend in. Thank you.
Thanks Jeanne! Some like to group nuthatches and treecreepers together because of their similarities. I'm missing my Red-breasted Nuthatch this year after seeing him most every day last year... What nuthatches do you see?
Almost exclusively white-breasted nuthatches though every once in a while I'll hear a red-breasted one. I see them as middlemen when it comes to birdseed; they're redistributors as they hide seeds in tree bark.
Wonderful! Never seen them hiding seeds...what fun. We get the same two species, and I'm always on the lookout for a pygmy nuthatch, which are more common in northern Arizona but also occasionally sneak down into the Sky Islands. So comical to watch these nuthatches!
