Just noticed for the 1st time Brown Crested Flycatchers in our yard. They don't come in close to the house. Just get drinks from the water dishes set up off the ground. Cute little guys with their special hair dos.
They are darling! Looks like the flycatchers have fledged since yesterday--pretty quiet at the nest box this morning after lots of activity last evening. So fun to watch these past weeks...miss them already.
My husband just made a large birdhouse from cedar, looking at yours, we'll copy that one to see if we can get them to nest. We have so many different birds. A Laddder
Back Woodpecker occasionally and my favorite, the Flickers. This year a baby Flicker.
Thanks for keeping us up to date on your spot, Ken. Your keen eye, birding expertise, and gifts as a photographer deliver a grand and informative picture of that piece of heaven.

I found the instructions online. NestWatch has plans for many different birds, including Brown-crested Flycatchers. https://nestwatch.org/learn/all-about-birdhouses/
Of course, as soon as I put it up, the Acorn Woodpeckers started modifying it (but never used it).
Good luck! Let me know how it goes...
"walnut-sized cup of irony" Love it!
Thanks Michael. Sometimes an image just comes together...
6 inches of rain! I can only dream!

You are welcome, Elizabeth! So glad you're enjoying the Big Yard--thank you for your kind words...
