We had quite a parade of Turkey Vultures here when the Mountain Lion got finished with the deer kill next to the house. They reduced that carcass down to skin and bones and then the coyotes took the bones. Quite an experience for us to witness.
I’m second-guessing my own ID of turkey vultures, because they’re here (east coast Canada) all year...or at least some of them are sticking around. Or maybe Merlin maps need updating; we have red-bellied woodpeckers now but that’s too north according to the app, too.
You may be right on the ID. Sibley shows them year-round all the way up most of the East Coast and eBird shows them year-round around Taranto and Montreal and a few places in Nova Scotia. Don't doubt yourself!

I found a fresh mountain lion kill and was able to set up a wildlife camera there. So many pictures over a week of feasting!
That owl! And what a great story!
Thanks Karen! Love these little guys, and it always makes me happy to hear their return to the same nesting place every year.
