Thanks for making our past year happier with your exquisite photos & knowledgeable & poetic descriptions! Looking forward to another year of avian adventure. Happy birding!
Ooh, ( my favorite, in this selection) the Violet-crowned Hummingbird is gorgeous. So different from our Ruby-throated. And the Rivoli’s Hummingbird is also a stunner.
It is so interesting to think that our migrators might have made their way to your yard. The White-throated Sparrow is fairly common here in northern VT, but I think I am a little too far north to see them year round. While the Black and White Warbler accompanies me on my walk in spring and summer, they disappear and possibly head your way and not return to us until April.
And one of my favorite birds, the Rose-breasted Grosbeak, will not return until May.
I am partial to Warblers, so the photo of the little Red-faced Warbler is also a favorite . Though the Hermit Thrush wins out in my yard, mostly for its gloriously ethereal song.
Of course PJs, unless you’re pulling out those leeches again.
Happy New Year!
I don’t often say this, but I hope it rains there soon!
wonderful photos; beautiful birds; YES!!!
Thanks Ruby--yes to more birds!

You are so kind--thank you! Moving into 2025--first Cedar Waxwings this morning!
All wonderful, but my vote for "Best Bird" of 2024 is Williamson's Sapsucker!
One vote for the sapsucker!
Thank you, love the collection
Thanks Eileen. Happy New Year!
